I pray you are all doing well today. I just wanted to reach out to you to let you know that Open Enrollment is upon us (November 1st 2025 to January 15th 2026).
This is the time of year that if you would like to switch your health insurance plan or stay with your insurance carrier, you can. I know that Connect for Health Colorado and your insurance carrier will be sending you all an email/letter soon letting you know what I’m telling you. When you receive your email/letter from Connect for Health Colorado and your carrier, you definitely want to make sure that you read your email to see if your plan will carry over for next year or be discontinued where you will have to choose another plan. You can also use this time to choose another plan, if you do not want the plan you are currently on.
***Currently, Connect for Health Colorado does not have the premiums for next year available just yet. The reason for this has to do with the Health Insurance carriers waiting for CMS (Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services) to approve their rates, as well as their plans for next year. So the soonest I can see and go over plans with you all would be possibly the last week in October. Also, the reason for the delayed information has to do with the ending of the Enhanced Premium Tax Credit that is due to end December 31st 2025. ***
***What Enhanced Premium Tax Credits (EPTCS) are, are an expanded version of the ACA’s Premium Tax Credits that were enacted in 2021. They are set to expire at the end of 2025 (as I stated above), unless extended by Congress (the government shutdown has mostly to do with this issue). These enhanced subsidies lower health insurance premiums for consumers on the ACA Marketplace (ex: Connect for Health Colorado), with the goal of setting maximum premium contributions as a share of income and making plans more affordable for people at all income levels, including those previously excluded from subsidies. In other words, EPTCS lower premium costs for most consumers that have chosen to get through Health insurance plans through Connect for Health Colorado. If Congress does not extend the enhanced tax credits after 2025, many people could see their premium payments rise sharply, which could lead to financial hardship and potential lose of their health coverage.***
***A ray of hope: Colorado has a contingency plan that will help Coloradans still save money on their premiums for 2026, if the EPTC is not extended. There are going to be a few changes to the criteria in which the Advanced Premium Tax Credits (APTC) are allocated, but they are going to try and help as many Coloradans as possible. So let’s have a conversation. Please do not get discouraged.***
You can call me in advance to set up an appointment time for us to speak about the changes mentioned above. If you we don’t speak before Open Enrollment (OEP) starts, let’s try and connect before the deadlines I’m mentioning below. This will possibly ensure a smooth transition into a new Health Insurance year.
If you are switching your plan, you have from November 1st to November 30th to choose another plan. Once December 1st comes around, any plan you’re on now will most likely auto renew for next year January 1st 2026 by Connect for Health Colorado. Although you may think your plan may auto renew for the next year, you should reach out to me so that I can make sure it will.
If I don’t hear from you until after December 1st, you still will have a chance to change your plan until December 15th ( if at all possible, try to schedule an appointment with me before Connect for Health Colorado auto renews the plans December 1st. The process for plan enrollment is a bit more complicated after December 1st) .The December 15th deadline will ensure your insurance plan start date will be January 1st 2026 (meaning you’ll have continuous coverage with no break in plan).
If you enroll into another plan anytime after December 15th through January 15th, your plan start date will be February 1st 2026.
In order to avoid a lapse in coverage, you will want to change your plan no later than December 15th 2025.
Also, some of you may have plans that may not continue next year, due to the carrier discontinuing that plan. So your insurance carriers will be sending you a notice to let you know if that is the case. In the letter sent to you it will have a suggested plan that the carrier believes is similar to the plan you had. If your plan is through Connect for Health Colorado, they will also send out a letter informing you of the suggested new plan, as well as have the suggested plan in your Connect for Health portal/website. In order to take advantage of the suggested plan through Connect for Health Colorado, you need to contact me or login into your Connect for Health account and select your selection before December 1st 2025. After December 1st 2025, the suggested plan goes away through Connect for Health Colorado and you will have to decide which plan you would like to continue with.
Although your plan may auto renew, you should reach out to me if you will have a change in projected income for next year (this is for individuals who have a tax credit through Connect for Health Colorado), need to make sure your doctor will still be in network with your plan next year, as well as prescriptions that you need covered.
Again, you will be receiving an email/letter from Connect for Health Colorado, as well as your carrier that has informed you of the changes that may need to occur with your account, as well as how you go about making the changes. Make sure you look for that email.
If I don’t hear from you at all, then most likely your plan will continue for next year, but again to make sure your plan will continue just reach out to me.
***ATTENTION: If you have recently enrolled into a health plan during the month of September or October of 2025, please reach out to me so we can set an appointment to evaluate if you’d like to stay with the same plan you are currently on. Your plan will have to be pushed through for 2026, or you can find another plan because your plan will not automatically renew for next year. It has to do with how late you enrolled in your current plan for this year 2025. Connect for Health Colorado may not have gotten you in their system in time for the auto renewal campaign. So let’s make an appointment to speak before December 1st or December 15th 2025.
Please reach out to me starting the first week of November, so I can schedule a time to assist you in making sure you have the right plan with continuous coverage. The best days to reach me are Monday, Tuesday, Friday (9:00am – 5:30pm) Wednesday, Thursday (3:00pm-5:30pm) and some Saturdays (11:00am-4pm). If you have to reach me outside of those days or hours, you can call and leave a message (720-975-5513), email (bluelytehealth@gmail.com) or go to my website www.bluelytehealth.com and at the top of the home page click on the word Contact, in which you will be directed to the contact page, where you can fill out a short form ex: name, number, email (optional) and reason for receiving a call back. I will get back to you as soon as possible.
P.S. If any of you have a tax credit, I want to make sure I get your projected income for 2026. When I get your projected gross income, I will make sure to update your information in order for your – Advanced Premium Tax Credit (APTC) to be correct for next year. Lastly, if you are going to be aging into Medicare soon, please reach out to me so I can help you with this transition.
I’m honored to be your Broker and although things may be a bit rough and unsure now, we have got to obtain and hold on to faith and hope. We will get through this together.
