Overview and Mission
Colorado Connect is a Public Benefit Corporation designed to offer a shopping platform for health coverage plans and state-funded financial assistance. This platform is accessible to all Coloradans, irrespective of their immigration status. The mission of Colorado Connect is to create a flexible and innovative environment that allows users to easily compare and select affordable health benefits in one convenient location, with the overarching goal of improving the health and well-being of the community.
Target Audience
The primary focus of Colorado Connect is to serve undocumented Coloradans who may not qualify for Medicaid or the ACA Marketplace. Additionally, it caters to individuals facing various challenges in enrolling for health coverage. By providing options outside the conventional marketplace, Colorado Connect addresses the needs of those who might otherwise be left without essential health services, ensuring greater access for vulnerable populations.
OmniSalud Program
A key component of Colorado Connect is the OmniSalud Program, which enables undocumented individuals to shop for health plans. This program is specifically designed to create a pathway for these individuals to access necessary health coverage. Through the OmniSalud Program, users can explore a variety of health insurance options that suit their needs, fostering a more inclusive healthcare landscape.
Financial Assistance Through SilverEnhanced Savings
Eligible participants in the OmniSalud Program can benefit from financial assistance known as SilverEnhanced Savings. This assistance offers qualifying customers the opportunity to secure health plans with $0 premiums and substantial coverage for medical expenses. This financial support is vital in making healthcare more affordable for those who have historically faced barriers to accessing insurance.
Upcoming Changes
Significant changes are on the horizon for Colorado Connect. Starting November 1, 2024, DACA recipients will gain the ability to apply for coverage through the platform. Furthermore, beginning January 1, 2025, children and pregnant individuals, regardless of their immigration status, will be eligible for Medicaid options. These updates represent a commitment to enhancing health equity and expanding access to care for all Coloradans.
Conclusion
Through its inclusive approach and innovative programs, Colorado Connect aims to break down barriers to healthcare access for all residents, particularly those who are undocumented. By continuously evolving and adapting to the needs of the community, Colorado Connect strives to ensure that every Coloradan can find the health coverage they need, ultimately contributing to the overall well-being of the state.
